Carry-On Allowance: 1 Bag + 1 Personal Item

Each passenger is allowed to carry on one bag and one personal item such as a purse or briefcase. Assistive devices and outer garments do not count as personal items. All carry-on luggage must fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you and adhere to the following requirements:

  • Maximum Dimensions of Carry-on Luggage: 45 linear in/114 cm (length + width + height)
  • Maximum Weight of Carry-on Luggage: 25 lb/11 kg

  • Tickets purchased on or after May 10, 2008 and before July 31: 1 piece of baggage
  • Tickets purchased before May 10, 2008: 2 pieces of baggage
  • Maximum Dimensions of each bag: 62 linear inches/157 cm (length + width + height)
  • Maximum Weight of each bag: 50 lb/23 kg

*Passengers will be charged $15 for a first checked bag and $25 for a second checked bag.

Free Baggage Allowance for Travel Within Hawaii

Travel on or after July 15, 2008: 1 piece of baggage*

Tickets purchased before July 8, 2008 for travel on or after July 15: 2 pieces of baggage

  • Maximum Dimensions of each bag: 62 linear inches/157 cm (length + width + height)
  • Maximum Weight of each bag: 50 lb/23 kg

*Passengers will be charged $17 for a second checked bag.

Excess bags are only permitted if space is available.

Overweight Baggage Fees

  • Inter-island flights: $25 for each oversized piece
  • Flights between Hawaii and the continental U.S.: $50 for each oversized piece

Bags weighing more than 70 lb will not be accepted.

Oversize Baggage Fees

Fee for any bag between 63-80 in:

  • Inter-island flights: $25 for each oversized piece
  • Flights between Hawaii and the continental U.S.: $100 for each oversized piece

Bags exceeding 80 in will not be accepted.

Sports Equipment

Some checked items, such as surfboards and bicycles will be charged a fixed handling fee because of size, fragility, or other handling requirements while others may be checked in lieu of one of your checked bags. If you plan to travel with sporting equipment, contact Hawaiian Airlines directly to confirm packing regulations and fees.
