Carry-On Allowance: 1 Bag + 1 Personal Item

Each passenger is allowed to carry on one bag and one personal item such as a purse or briefcase. Assistive devices and outer garments do not count as personal items. All carry-on luggage must fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you and adhere to the following requirements:

• Maximum Dimensions of Carry-on Luggage: 45 linear in/114 cm (length + width + height)
• Maximum Weight of Carry-on Luggage: 40 lb/18 kg
• Maximum Dimensions of Personal Item: 15in x 11in x 6in/38cm x 29cm x 15cm (length x width x height)

REMINDER: Bulkhead seats do not have underseat storage during take-off and landing.

Passengers traveling in Coach Class on flights to/from U.S./Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean:

• Maximum Dimensions: 62 linear inches/157 cm (length + width + height)
• Maximum Weight: 50 lb/23 kg

Checked Baggage Allowance for tickets issued on or after July 10, 2008 for travel on or after August 28, 2008:

• First checked bag: $15
• Second checked bag: $25
• Third and subsequent bags: $100 each

Checked Baggage Allowance for tickets issued on or after March 29, 2008 for travel on or after May 5, 2008:

• First checked bag: free
• Second checked bag: $25
• Third and subsequent bags: $100 each

Overweight and oversized luggage fees apply in addition to these baggage fees.

Passengers traveling in First Class on flights to/from U.S./Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean:

• Baggage Allowance: 3 pieces
• Maximum Dimensions for Items 1 and 2: 62 linear inches/157 cm (length + width + height)
• Maximum Weight for Items 1 and 2: 70 lb/32 kg each
• Maximum Dimensions for Item 3: 45 linear inches/114 cm (length + width + height)
• Maximum Weight for Items 3: 40 lb/18 kg

Passengers traveling on flights not to/from U.S./Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean:

• Baggage Allowance: 2 pieces
• Maximum Weight for Coach Class: 44 lb/20 kg
• Maximum Weight for First Class: 66 lb/30 kg

Domestic Overweight Baggage Fees

Fee for any bag weighing 51-70 lb: $50

Bags weighing more than 70 lb will not be accepted. If a bag is both oversize and overweight, passengers will be charged both fees. As overweight fees to international destinations vary, please contact Northwest for more information if you are traveling internationally.

Oversize Baggage Fees

Fee for any bag between 63-160 inches: $100

Bags exceeding 160 inches will not be accepted. If a bag is both oversize and overweight, passengers will be charged both fees. As overweight fees to international destinations vary, please contact Northwest for more information if you are traveling internationally.

Sports Equipment

Some checked items, such as golf clubs and bicycles will be charged a fixed handling fee because of size, fragility, or other handling requirements while others may be checked in lieu of one of your checked bags.
