Does Air Canada have online check-in?

Yes, Air Canada's Web Check-in allows you to check-in up to 24 hours before your flight. You may print your boarding pass from home, retrieve it at the airport from a Self-Service kiosk, or choose to receive an Electronic Boarding Pass directly on your mobile device.

What are the requirements for using Web Check-in?

  • Check-in 45 minutes - 24 hours before your flight is scheduled to depart if flying within Canada.
  • Check-in 1 - 24 hours before your flight is between Canada and other countries (including the United States).
  • You are not a special needs passenger (i.e. unaccompanied minor, wheelchair or medical assistance).
  • You are not a special needs passenger (i.e. unaccompanied minor).

Make sure you leave enough time at the airport to get through security, check your bags, etc.

What options are available with Web Check-in?

  • Select/change your seat.
  • Pay checked baggage fees (see baggage section for more information).
  • Standby for an earlier flight.
  • Request an upgrade (if eligible).
  • Make a same-day change to your flight (if eligible).
  • Add, renew or change a frequent flyer number.
  • Purchase a last minute upgrade.

Can I use Web Check-in if I have bags to check?

Yes, you will have to drop your bags at an Air Canada Express bag drop-off or Air Canada check-in counter at the airport before the cut-off time.

If I plan to check in at the airport, how much time should I allot?

If traveling within Canada:

  • Air Canada recommends you arrive at the airport 90 minutes before your flight's scheduled departure.
  • The cut-off time for checking in is 45 minutes before scheduled departure time for flights within Canada.

If traveling within or to/from the U.S:

  • Air Canada recommends you arrive at the airport 120 minutes before your flight's scheduled departure.
  • The cut-off time for checking in is 60 minutes before scheduled departure time.

If traveling to/from an international destination (including Mexico and the Caribbean):

  • Air Canada recommends you arrive at the airport 2 hours before your flight's scheduled departure.
  • The cut-off time for checking in is 60 minutes before scheduled departure time.

When do I need to be at the boarding gate?

  • Within or to/from Canada and U.S.: at least 20 minutes before flight departure time
  • International passengers: at least 30 minutes before flight departure time (some international destinations will require more time)
