Carry-On Allowance: 1 Bag + 1 Personal Item

Each passenger is allowed to carry on one bag and one personal item such as a purse or briefcase. Assistive devices and outer garments do not count as personal items. All carry-on luggage must fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you and adhere to the following requirements:

  • Maximum Dimensions of Carry-on Luggage: 21.5 in x 15.5 in x 9 in/55 cm x 40 cm x 23 cm (length x width x height)
  • Maximum Weight of Carry-on Luggage: 22 lb/10 kg
  • Maximum Dimensions of Personal Item: 17 in x 13 in x 6 in/43 cm x 33 cm x 16 cm (length x width x height)
  • Maximum Weight of Personal Item: 22 lb/10 kg

Checked Baggage Allowance

Economy Passengers:

  • Maximum Dimensions per bag: 62 linear inches/158 cm (length + width + height)
  • Maximum Weight per bag: 50 lb/23 kg

Star Alliance Gold Members and passengers traveling in Executive or Executive First class:

  • Baggage Allowance: 3 pieces
  • Maximum Dimensions: 62 linear inches/158 cm (length + width + height)
  • Maximum Weight per bag: 70 lb/32 kg, as long as the total weight of all three bags does not to exceed 150 lb/69 kg

Air Canada Super Elite and Elite passengers traveling in any class of service to any destination:

  • Baggage Allowance: 4 pieces
  • Maximum Dimensions: 62 linear inches/158 cm (length + width + height)
  • Maximum Weight: 70 lb/32 kg, as long as the total weight of all four bags not to exceed 200 lb/92 kg

Excess, Overweight, Oversize Baggage Fees

Sports Equipment

Some checked items, such as surfboards and bicycles will be charged a fixed handling fee because of size, fragility, or other handling requirements. This fee is $50 CAD/USD. All articles must be less than 109 linear inches/277 cm (length + width + height) and no longer than 80 in/203 cm.
