Aeromexico: Children Flying Alone

You must contact AeroMexico directly if your child will be traveling unaccompanied.

What is unaccompanied minor service?

Young children traveling without a parent or legal guardian are considered unaccompanied minors. Most airlines provide a service to assist these children from their point of departure to their final destination.

What age does my child have to be to qualify as an unaccompanied minor?

The service is mandatory for children ages 5-13 traveling without an adult. Children ages 14-17 years are not required to travel as unaccompanied minors, but the service is optional for this age group. Children under 5 years of age are not allowed to travel unless accompanied by an adult.

What are the fees associated with this service?

  • Flights within Mexico: 230MXN for one way flight including connection
  • International flights: 115USD one way flight including connection
  • Additional service fee for electronic ticket: 175MXN/15USD
  • You must pay for unaccompanied minor service when the ticket is purchased.

Are there any flight restrictions?

Unaccompanied minors will be accepted on flights with or without connections, including codeshare flights. The parent or guardian must fill out a "Letter of service for unaccompanied minor" and include the name of the person who will be retrieving the child at the destination airport. The person who delivers the child to the airport must present identification (passport) for temporary access to gates. The person in charge of pick up of the minor at destination airport must also show identification.
