What are the requirements for using Online Check-in?

  • Check-in 60 minutes-24 hours before your flight is scheduled to depart.
  • You have an electronic ticket for a Southwest flight
  • You are not a special needs passenger (i.e. unaccompanied minor).

Make sure you leave enough time at the airport to get through security, check your bags, etc.

Can I use Online Check-in if I have bags to check?

Yes, you will be able to print your boarding pass at home but will have to drop your bags with a Southwest sky cap or at a Southwest Airlines Check-in counter at the airport before the cut-off time.

Can I change/select my seat with Online Check-in?

No, Southwest does not have assigned seating on their flights.

If I plan to check in at the airport, how much time should I allot?

Southwest Airlines will soon offer Priority Security Screening

Southwest will begin offering a dedicated security-screening lane for its highest-tier frequent flyer members, business class passengers, and economy passengers who purchased high-yield fares. Called Fly By Priority Security Lane Access, the front-of-the-line access will be available at Dallas Love Field, Phoenix Sky Harbor, Denver International, San Francisco International, Los Angeles International, and John Wayne Airport in Orange County, CA beginning in late October.
