Airline Overview

Founded in 1929, LAN Airlines (LA) is a collection of South American airlines. A member of the Oneworld alliance, LAN flies to about 65 destinations in 21 countries in South America, North America, Europe and Oceania. It also has codeshare agreements with 10 other carriers. The airline, which is the flag carrier of Chile, has a primary hub at Santiago's Comodoro Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport (SLC). Secondary hubs are located at El Dorado International Airport (BOG), Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM), Jose Joaquin de Olmedo International Airport (GYE) and Jorge Newbery Airfield (AEP). In 2015, LAN's parent company LATAM Airlines Group, which also owns Brazil-based TAM Airlines (JJ) announced that the two carriers would be rebranded at LATAM by 2018.
