Carry-On Allowance: 1 Bag + 1 Personal Item
Each passenger is allowed to carry on one bag and one personal item such as a purse or briefcase. Assistive devices and outer garments do not count as personal items. All carry-on luggage must fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you and adhere to the following requirements:
- Maximum Dimensions of Carry-on Luggage: 45 linear in/115 cm (length + width + height)
- Maximum Weight of Carry-on Luggage: 15 lb/7 kg
Accept on flights to/from the U.S. Star Alliance Gold Members (including Airpoints Gold and Gold Elite) are allowed 2 carry-on bags as long as they adhere to the above requirements.
REMINDER: Bulkhead seats do not have underseat storage during take-off and landing.

Checked Baggage Allowance
Passengers traveling within New Zealand, or between New Zealand and Australia, the Pacific Islands, Asia or Japan must adhere to the below weight requirements:
- Economy Class: 44 lb/20 kg
- Business Class and Premium Economy* Class: 66 lb/30 kg
- Star Alliance Gold Members (including Airpoints Gold and Gold Elite) Members are allowed an additional 44 lb/20 kgs.
Passengers traveling to/from the U.S., Canada or Tahiti or for flights between New Zealand and London via Los Angeles, must adhere to the below requirements:
- Baggage Allowance: 2 pieces
- Maximum Dimensions: 62 linear inches/157 cm (length + width + height)
- Maximum Weight: 70 lb/32 kg each
- Economy Class: 100 lb/46kg combined
- Business and Premium Economy Class: 140 lb/64 kg combined
- Star Alliance Gold Members (including Airpoints Gold and Gold Elite) are allowed an additional piece of baggage meeting the same requirements.
*Air New Zealand's Pacific Premium Economy baggage allowance is not recognized by other carriers. Through check-in or baggage interlining on another carrier, the customer is only permitted the economy class baggage allowance through to their final destination. Air New Zealand Gold, Gold Elites, and Star Gold customers are eligible for the Star Alliance Priority baggage tag. Air New Zealand's Koru and Pacific Premium Economy New Zealand customers are required to have the Koru Priority tag on their baggage.

Excess, Overweight, Oversize Baggage Fees
If you have more bags than the permitted allowance or your bags exceed the weight or linear restrictions, you will be charged additional fees.
