Recording your frequent flyer awards and saving frequently flown flights, this application is perfect for the business traveler. And any traveler can appreciate TravelTracker's features that keep you organized by saving all the details of your travel expenses and creating packing lists.

FlightTrack

Get real-time status for flights from around the world with FlightTrack. Find out about flight delays and cancelations as they happen. View weather radar maps, gate changes, delays, and baggage claim information. You can even save your future flight itineraries and send yourself, colleagues, or friends detailed flight status emails.

FlightTrack Pro

FlightTrack Pro, the most popular flight tracking iPhone application, incorporates TripIt travel organization tools.

With all the features found on the standard FlightTrack application plus the travel organization tools offered by TripIt, FlightTrack Pro can become your new personal travel assistant. Just forward your airline confirmation emails to plans@tripit.com, and your flight itineraries will appear automatically in FlightTrack Pro.

Flight Status

Like the applications mentioned above, Flight Status offers the ability to check the status of thousands of flights as well as live weather information. However, most of Flight Status' information is limited to the U.S. and Canada, and without the additional features offered by the other apps, it may not be worth the $4.99.

Gate Maps

Costing less than a dollar, this application is worth every penny. Remember the last time you were running through an airport trying to make a close connection, at a loss for where you should be headed? Find your way through unfamiliar airports with Gate Maps. Plan ahead and get detailed dining and shopping information by using links to airport websites or quickly look at the basic terminal maps when you're in a rush to get to your gate.

Of course, there's a catch, Gate Maps only offers maps for about 30 airports, most of which are domestic.

Next Flight

Missed a flight and need to see if there's another flight you can catch or want to fly standby on an earlier flight? Next Flight lists all the available flights for the selected day on all airlines. Check not only the departure and arrival times, but also see the terminal and gate information for each flight.

Trips - Travel Manager

Trips brings together all the different aspects of your travel, including flights, car rental, hotel reservations, meetings, and dinner reservations. Keep track of the confirmation numbers, websites, and phone numbers for all the different elements of your trip.

This free application lets you check flight schedules, gate numbers, airport delays, security wait times, and your itinerary (if you booked through Travelocity). TravelTools also lets you search for "Hotels Near Me," which includes room rates, hotel photos, and traveler reviews. It may be just what you need when your flight is canceled and you find yourself stranded at the airport overnight.
