What is Edelweiss Air’s baggage policy?

The Edelweiss Air baggage policy for regular basic fares include the following:

•   Carry-on/Hand baggage

•   Business and Economy:  1 personal item - Fee free

•   Business:  2 items - Fee free; Economy:  1 item

•   Checked baggage / Hold luggage – Business:  2 bags, 32kg/70 lb each; Economy:  1 bag, 23kg/50 lb (Brazil flights:  2 bags, 23kg/50 lb each)

•   Overweight and Oversize bags - Applicable fees per bag depending on weight and size categories

•   Sports equipment - Certain items might have applicable fees

What is Edelweiss Air’s carry-on/hand baggage policy?

Edelweiss Air allows 2 carry-on/hand bags if flying in Business Class and 1 carry-on/hand bag if flying in Economy Class and 1 personal item (purse, briefcase, laptop bag) per passenger fee free.

•   Carry-on/Hand baggage should not exceed the following size and weight restrictions:

•   47 linear inches (22 x 16 x 9 in) or 118 centimeters (55 x 40 x 23 cm) including handles and wheels

•   Weight no more than 8 kg or 17.5 lb

•   Fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you

•   A foldable garment bag may be accepted as one carry-on/hand baggage item [maximum 16 x 12 x 4 in/40 x 30 x 10 cm]

•   Personal item should not exceed the following size and weight restrictions:

•   32 linear inches (16 x 12 x 4 in) or 80 centimeters (40 x 30 x 10 cm)

•   Fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you

•   A jacket, umbrella, diaper bag, duty free items, and assistive devices (wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, strollers, child restraint seats, etc.) do not count towards your carry-on/hand baggage allowance.

NOTE:  Bulkhead seats do not have under seat storage, therefore, all carry-on/hand baggage must be stowed in the overhead bin during take-off and landing.

No, Edelweiss Air does not charge a fee for standard checked baggage / hold luggage. Edelweiss Air’s standard policy details follow:

Economy Class, Economy Max

•   1 bag standard, per person

•   Maximum dimensions each bag:  62 inches or 158 centimeters (length + width + height)

•   Maximum weight each bag:  50 pounds or 23 kilograms

What is Edelweiss Air’s fee for excess baggage?

Edelweiss Air allows additional checked baggage/hold luggage for a fee. The fee charged is the same for Business Class, Economy Class, and Economy Max Class [fees listed are as of August 2016]. Details for each bag follow:

·   Maximum dimensions:  62 linear inches or 158 linear centimeters (length + width + height)

·   Maximum weight:  50 pounds or 23 kilograms

·   Short- & Medium-haul flights:  CHF90

·   Long-haul flights:  CHF180 (on flights between Canada, USA and South Africa the fee charged will be CHF90 if purchased when booking your travel online)

Edelweiss Air will charge a fee for a bag that is greater than the standard 50 pounds or 23 kilograms. The fee charged per bag follows:

•   Short- & Medium-haul flights:  CHF150

•   Long-haul flights:  CHF300

What is Edelweiss Air’s fee for oversize baggage?

Edelweiss Air will charge a fee for an additional bag that is greater than 62 linear inches or 158 linear centimeters. The fee charged per bag follows:

•   Short- & Medium-haul flights:  CHF210

•   Long-haul flights:  CHF420 

What is Edelweiss Air’s fee for a bag that is oversize and overweight?

Edelweiss Air will charge a fee for an additional bag that is greater than 62 linear inches or 158 linear centimeters and weighs greater than 50 pounds or 23 kilograms. The fee charged per bag follows:

•   Short- & Medium-haul flights:  CHF270

•   Long-haul flights:  CHF540

Are there fees for sports equipment on Edelweiss Air?

Sports equipment such as skis, golf bags, fishing equipment, hockey, and lacrosse equipment will be accepted up to Edelweiss Air’s size and weight limits and will count as one checked bag/hold bag.  Associated fees might be applied.
