Saga Class passengers: 2 Bags + 1 Personal Item*

  • Maximum dimensions of carry-on luggage: 115 cm/45 in (length + width + height)
  • Maximum weight of each piece of carry-on luggage: 10 kg/22 lb each

Economy Comfort Class passengers: 2 Bag + 1 Personal Item* 

  • Maximum dimensions of carry-on luggage: 115 cm/45 in (length + width + height)
  • Maximum weight of each piece of carry-on luggage: 10 kg/22 lb each

Economy Class passengers: 1 Bag + 1 Personal Item*

  • Maximum dimensions of carry-on luggage: 115 cm/45 in (length + width + height)
  • Maximum weight of carry-on luggage: 10 kg/22 lb

*Assistive devices and outer garments do not count as personal items. All carry-on luggage must fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you. 

REMINDER: Bulkhead seats do not have underseat storage during take-off and landing.

Checked Baggage Allowance

Saga Class passengers

  • Flights within Europe/Weight Concept: (Europe to Iceland and return) Saga Class passengers are entitled to two checked bags, weighing no more than 32 kg/70 lbs each, total of the 3 dimensions (length + width + height) does not exceed 158 cm/62 in.
  • Transatlantic Flights/Piece Concept: (Europe to the USA and return) two checked bags, weighing no more than 32 kg/70 lbs each, total of the 3 dimensions (length + width + height) does not exceed 158 cm/62 in.

Economy Comfort Class passengers

  • Flights within Europe/Weight Concept: (Europe to Iceland and return) Economy Comfort Class passengers are entitled to two checked bags, weighing no more than 23 kg/50 lbs each, total of the 3 dimensions (length + width + height) does not exceed 158 cm/62 in.
  • Transatlantic Flights/Piece Concept: (Europe to the USA and return) two checked bags, weighing no more than 23 kg/50 lbs each, total of the 3 dimensions (length + width + height) does not exceed 158 cm/62 in.

Economy Class passengers

  • Flights within Europe/Weight Concept: (Europe to Iceland and return) Economy Class passengers are entitled to one checked bag, weighing no more than 23 kg/50 lbs, total of the 3 dimensions (length + width + height) does not exceed 158 cm/62 in. 
  • Transatlantic Flights/Piece Concept: (Europe to the USA and return) one checked bag, weighing no more than 23 kg/50 lbs, total of the 3 dimensions (length + width + height) does not exceed 158 cm/62 in.

Infants

Infants not entitled to a seat are allowed 23 kg/50 lb and in addition one checked or carry on fully collapsible stroller or infant carrying basket.

Disabled passengers

Disabled passengers are allowed a wheelchair in addition to their free baggage allowance, but it must be checked.

Excess Baggage Fees

The following baggage fees apply only when traveling on Icelandair flights. Other rules may apply if your travel includes more than one airline. Please check with the operating carrier for more information on their baggage rules. If you wish to carry more baggage than included in your ticket, you may do so by buying an additional baggage. Such fees are charged when you exceed your free baggage allowance. The prices below apply only to single flight legs which are operated solely by Icelandair. 

For excess pieces of baggage each weighing 1 lb/1 kg to 50 lbs/23 kgs, each piece one-way fee will be charged:

  • Flights within Europe: $46 each piece, each way
  • Flights between Iceland and the USA/Canada: $120 each piece, each way 
  • Flights between Europe and the USA/Canada: $132 each piece, each way 

For excess pieces of baggage heavier than , 50 lbs/23 kgs, each piece one-way fee will be charged:

  • Flights within Europe: $40 each piece, each way
  • Flights between Iceland and the USA/Canada: $105 each piece, each way 
  • Flights between Europe and the USA/Canada: $120 each piece, each way 

Fees will be assessed for every category that applies. If you for instance have an extra bag which is heavier than 23 kg (50lbs), both the extra bag fee and the heavy bag fee will apply.

The EUR charge shall apply to any other flights from Europe, converted to the local currency where applicable.

Note: The maximum weight per bag is 32kg (70lbs). If you have baggage which is over this limit or exceeds the free baggage allowance, Icelandair Cargo may be the answer you are looking for. Please contact Icelandair Cargo for details.

CPAP Devices: 

CPAP machines are accepted on board. One CPAP machine may be carried in addition to your carry-on baggage allowance.Your CPAP machine’s make and model must be added to your booking at least two business days prior to departure. Please contact our Service Center to add this to your booking. If your CPAP machine is battery powered, please note that spare/loose lithium ion batteries must be in cabin baggage (under 100 Wh and up to 160 Wh.) They must be protected from short circuits and must be packaged in a manner that protects them from physical damage. Only two batteries are allowed per passenger if the battery is between 100 Wh and 160 Wh. Please keep in mind that electrical outlets are not available on all Economy seats and we cannot guarantee that you can plug the device in.
