Airline Overview

Founded in 1997, Germanwings (4U) is a low-cost carrier that is a wholly owned subsidiary of Lufthansa (LH). It is headquartered in Cologne and operates from primary hubs at Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN), Stuttgart Airport (STR), Hamburg Airport (HAM), Berlin Tegel Airport (TXL) and Düsseldorf Airport (DUS). Germanwings flies to about 85 destinations, including about 15 that are domestic. International destinations include 28 countries in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The airline's fleet of 83 Airbus and Bombardier aircraft are each configured with a single Economy Class cabin.
