AirAsia X: Children Flying Alone

Does AirAsia X offer Unaccompanied Minor Service?

AirAsia X is unable to accept for carriage any unaccompanied minors.

AirAsia X generally requires that all passengers are able to travel independently if traveling alone. AirAsia X does not have the systems, staff or facilities required to assist and supervise children under 12 years old. Accordingly, guests under 12 years old will not be regarded as able to travel independently on the basis that they may endanger themselves or others if traveling unaccompanied.

What age does my child have to be to travel alone?

Any child between the ages of 12 and 16 years old on the day of travel and traveling alone are considered a Young Person Traveling Alone (YPTA).

AirAsia X will accept a YPTA for carriage, only upon the parent or guardian completing and signing a Release and Indemnity Form for Acceptance of YPTA. No pre-boarding, meet, or assist service is provided for the YPTA.

A YPTA is not considered an adult and cannot accompany a child under 12 years old.

Guests 16 to 18 years old

Any guests between the ages of 16 and 18 years old on the day of travel may travel without completing any forms and will be treated as adults. However, these guests cannot accompany a child under 12 years old.
